The 49th UKLA International Conference

Literacy Policies and Practices: Diverse Perspectives in the 21st Century
Liverpool Hope University
Friday 5th to Sunday 7th July 2013

UKLA’s 49th Annual International Conference will explore diverse literacy policy and practices. It will provide an opportunity to examine, discuss and debate what has shaped literacy practices in the past, and what informs policies and practices of the future. It will also enable us to compare and contrast common issues, themes and practices globally. The theme, ‘Literacy Policies and Practices: Diverse Perspectives in the twenty-first Century’ will explore research and practice on the following topics:
  • implications of change for  both policy and practice
  • multi-literacies and multimodal practices
  • subject and pedagogical content knowledge in the literacy curriculum
  • inclusion and equality
  • creative approaches to the teaching of literacy
  • the important role of libraries
  • the role of the literacy teacher and professional development
  • adult literacy

These, and many more themes, will feature in this convivial conference and we invite you to contribute.
