The international
conference “Matters of the Mind: Psychology and Language Learning” will
bring together scholars from across the globe to the beautiful, historic city
of Graz, Austria’s second largest city, located in the south of the country.
The city is well known for its stunning architecture and exceptional culinary
delights, and we hope despite our busy schedule that you will also find time to
enjoy all Graz has to offer.
The conference aims to
generate new insights into the role of psychology in language learning and
teaching. It will cover a wide range of topics including autonomy, beliefs,
emotions, goal setting, group dynamics, motivation, the self, strategies,
metacognition, willingness to communicate, individual differences, among
others. A particular goal of the conference is to bring together different
branches in this vibrant field and explore interconnections and potential for
cooperation.

CALL FOR PAPERS
Theme
The international conference “Matters of the Mind: Psychology and Language
Learning” will bring together scholars from across the globe
interested in the role of psychology in language learning and teaching. It aims
to generate new insights on a range of issues currently challenging this
vibrant field, such as discussions of theoretical frameworks, methodological
decisions and practical implications. It will cover a wide range of topics
including autonomy, beliefs, emotions, goal setting, group dynamics,
motivation, the self, strategies, metacognition, willingness to communicate,
individual differences, among others.
Format
We would invite you to submit proposals for either a 30-minute talk or a poster presentation. In order
to be considered, the content of the proposals must fit clearly with the theme
of the conference. The official conference

The form requests the following information:
- Name
- Affiliation
- Email address
- Title: (No more than 10 words)
- Abstract (to appear in the conference programme and
on the website): No more than 50 words
- Summary (to be reviewed by the panel but not
publicly available): No more than 200 words

Applicants will be informed of the panel’s
decision by 31st January, 2014.
