We are glad
to announce that the IDENTITY: REPRESENTATION & PRACTICES conference will
take place on the 11th and 12th of September 2014. The conference will be
hosted by the University of Lisbon, Portugal.
Identity has
been a popular topic in academia and has been reviewed from many different
theoretical and methodological angles. The main purpose of this conference will
be to assess identities (i.e.: national; gender; cultural; professional;
religious; socio economic etc.) within and across different disciplines (social
science, political science, psychology, linguistics, literature, medicine,
jurisprudence, and more) and to bring together researchers from different
fields of study to establish a dialogue and further advance the state of the
art.
We welcome
proposals for paper presentations addressing identity across a wide spectrum of
expertise/subjects. The topics for paper proposals can include but are by no
means limited to the following:
I.Technologies, literacies and
identities
II.Power, media and governability
III.Migration, globalization and
inequalities
IV.Communities of practices,
knowledge and intercomprehension
V.Exposure, ostentation and
otherness
VI.Social networks, mobilization and
ideologies
VII.Identity politics, regulation,
enforcement and control
VIII.Arts, performances and consumerism
IX.Social relations, power and
equalities
X.Ethics, public space and civil
rights
XI.Identities of self, group and
interpersonal relationships
